PACE Program in Pennsylvania: How to Apply and What It Covers

By Mike Martin · Your Medicare & Health Insurance Agent · Updated March 2026

⚡ Key Facts

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify for PACE or PACENET, you must be 65 or older, a Pennsylvania resident for at least 90 days, not enrolled in Medicaid prescription coverage, and meet the income requirements.

Income is based on your total annual income from the previous year, including Social Security, pensions, wages, and interest. Certain types of income like SSI payments may be excluded.

What Medications Does PACE Cover?

PACE covers most prescription medications, including many brand-name and generic drugs for common conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and depression. Some over-the-counter items like insulin syringes and diabetic supplies may also be covered.

How PACE Works with Medicare Part D

If you have Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage, PACE/PACENET can help pay for your Part D costs, including premiums, deductibles, and copays. This means PACE acts as a supplement to your Part D plan, reducing your total out-of-pocket costs even further.

Key point: If you're eligible for PACE, you should still enroll in a Medicare Part D plan. Your PACE benefits will wrap around your Part D coverage to minimize what you pay at the pharmacy.

How to Apply

Don't Leave Money on the Table

With PACENET income limits reaching $33,500 for single individuals, more people are eligible than you might think. The savings can be substantial — potentially hundreds or even thousands of dollars per year on prescription costs.
